Col d'Izoard
We climb Col d'Izoard from the south. It's a steady climb becoming steeper near the top. There's a small cycle museum on the summit along with a memorial to Fausto Coppi and Louison Bobet.
As we descend, we pass through the barren scree slopes and weathered rock known as Casse Déserte. This area has formed a dramatic backdrop to some key moments in the Tour de France and often features in iconic 1950's black & white photos of the race.
